On October 17th, 2024, Someplace Safe hosted their 26th annual Unity Day luncheon for the first time in 5 years. As the only domestic violence shelter in Trumbull County, Someplace Safe aims to empower attendees to take action beyond awareness by amplifying the voices of people who persevered through abusive relationships. The event featured survivor stories and staff testimonials, while honoring those who lost their lives to domestic violence and speaking for those who no longer can.
Prior to Unity Day, Someplace Safe and the Solace Center Advisory Board hosted a gift card raffle for Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, where each $10 ticket served as a donation to the survivors of Trumbull County. The shelter also partnered with Thrive Counseling in Warren to collect onsite in-kind donations, such as nonperishable food, toiletries, and paper products, throughout the month.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month may be over, but Someplace Safe encourages people to take action against abuse year round. If you missed out on Unity Day, consider attending Dinner and Desserts, Someplace Safe’s annual fundraising event, on March 1, 2025. It’s a flavorful night filled with decadent desserts and heartfelt joy featuring a variety of local vendors, where all proceeds go to supporting domestic violence survivors. Tickets are not yet available for purchase, but you can save the date and start receiving updates about registration and sponsorship opportunities by clicking here.
Someplace Safe is also always accepting donations, especially with the upcoming holiday season, so if you want to support survivors in your area, consider making a donation today!
