From April 10th to May 7th, Matthew Banko will be running a food drive benefitting Family & Community Services’ Food Programs as his Eagle Scout Service Project. This project, which is an opportunity for a scout to exhibit leadership, is a requirement to obtain the Eagle Scout ranking.
Eagle Scouts are encouraged to complete a project that they feel passionate about. When asking Banko about his motivation for this project he said, “I wanted to pursue something which I believed would do the best for the people around me. I wanted to create a project which directly helps those in need in a way that is greatly important, which is why I chose to run a food drive.”
Banko has put food collection bins at the Hudson Fire Department Lobby, 40 S. Oviatt Street, and at the Hudson High School. These locations will only be accepting canned food items. Matthew said, “My goal for this project is to raise over one thousand cans of food for those in need throughout my surrounding communities to help combat the rising challenges being faced by many who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.”
