Introducing the Veteran’s Housing Rehabilitation Program (VHRP), a collaborative effort by Family & Community Services and Ride with Valor (RWV). Made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the program aims to assist low-income veterans in Northeast Ohio with much-needed home repairs. Launched in September 2023, this initiative represents a steadfast commitment to serving those who have selflessly served our country.
At the heart of this program lies a profound mission: to restore not just homes, but also hope, dignity, and stability for our veterans. By addressing critical home repair needs, we aim to lighten the load for those who’ve sacrificed for our freedom. Teaming up with RWV, an organization deeply dedicated to supporting veterans and their families, allows us to combine our efforts to maximize impact and reach.
VHRP’s work will primarily focus on supporting disabled veterans across Northeast Ohio whose income falls below 80% of the median income for their respective areas. Installing wheelchair ramps and bathroom fixtures, our goal is to create safe, accessible, and comfortable living spaces. Additionally, we’re prioritizing energy efficiency enhancements, to reduce the financial strain utility costs can pose on low-income households.
The Veteran’s Housing Rehabilitation Program is more than just a renovation initiative—it is a testament to the resilience, compassion, and unity that define our community. Every home repaired brings us one step closer to fulfilling our promise to those who have bravely defended our nation.
