We provide wheelchair and ambulatory transportation services for Portage and neighboring counties.

Emerald Transportation with Family & Community Services, Inc. offers safe, reliable, quality service to ambulatory and non-emergency wheelchair-bound clients.

We provide wheelchair transportation to and from many different locations, including physicians’ offices, hospitals, worksites and day programming, private residences without steps, rehabilitation centers, retirement centers, and chemotherapy treatments. We also partner with youth programming and provide transport for kids to and from jobs, plus a loop service for Job and Family Services.

WHO WE SERVE

We serve individuals who are wheelchair-bound and are in need of ambulatory and non-emergency transportation services. Our drivers are First-Aid, CPR, and AED trained, and our vehicles are equipped with two-way communication, secure seatbelts, shoulder harnesses, and four-point chair tie-downs.

RATE SCHEDULE

Every transport is different. We ask that you contact our office to receive a current price quote. Emerald Transportation also offers group rates for special occasions on an individual basis, depending on availability.

CLIENT EXPECTATIONS

Every client should expect dependable, timely, safe transportation with a courteous driver. Clients in need of a return ride will be given a number to call for pick up. Arrival time for pick up is usually within 30 minutes unless otherwise informed when calling in.

HOW TO MEASURE A WHEELCHAIR

Measure the widest portion of the wheelchair (including accessories). This is usually the outside of one handrail to the other handrail (outside of the wheel).

Measure from the furthest part of the back of the wheelchair (usually the push handles) to the tips of the footrest (usually the toe area). This is to be measured in the position the chair will be transported.

MEDICARE

Medicare does not cover wheelchair or ambulette services at this time.

MEDICAID

Medicaid will cover very limited ambulette services.
