St. Joseph Early Learning Center Focuses on Friendship

Family & Community Services, Inc.

Students at St. Joseph Early Learning Center have been learning about friendship. The preschool has offered affordable educational programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children ages 6-11 for nearly 20 years. The comprehensive programming at St. Joseph’s is designed to enhance the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of the children they serve.

As part of this programming, the students teamed up to create friendship rules for their classroom last month. Their rules included: “Use kind words, use nice hands, no pushing, no name-calling, we should share, be a good listener, help each other, don’t take toys, and use our words.” Afterwards, the preschoolers had the opportunity to try out their new rules by pairing up with a friend to make homemade ice cream together. The kids had a great time making friends.

For residents of Mogadore and Portage County, St. Joe’s provides a convenient, local facility that offers quality care families can trust at a place that’s close to home. The center is unique in that it is the only non-profit preschool in the area that offers a sliding fee for families not eligible for state subsidized childcare and has amazing education programs. St Joe’s is always looking for donations and new community partners to help out with its programming and growth.
