Help Us Serve all Who Have Served

Each year, Veteran’s Haven serves around 75 homeless veterans in Mahoning County, all of whom have been males. However, female veterans are the fastest growing homeless population, making up 8% of homeless veterans today. And they are dealing with unique challenges like military sexual trauma or having children in the household.

With our renovations, we can move from our currently rented space at 550 West Chalmers Ave. in Youngstown, and create a brand new facility that will accommodate both males and females, including LGBTQ veterans and veterans with children, and give them each a private space to live during their stay with us.

Project Overview

Veteran’s Haven, located in Trumbull and Mahoning Counties in Ohio, is raising funds to construct a 5,700 square foot building made from a combination of storage containers and bricks and mortar in Youngstown. Once complete, the new building will have fourteen bedrooms, fourteen bathrooms, a congregate kitchen, living room, therapy/meeting space, and staff offices and will be staffed 24/7/365.

Thanks to a grant from The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), we are able to create a better space for homeless veterans at our own location. But we need help to reach our fundraising goal and complete this project. You can help by making a donation or volunteering your skills and labor. You can learn more about Veteran’s Haven and our services here.

Timeline

Construction on the facility will begin in November 2023 and will take approximately one year to complete. Follow our progress on Facebook here.
