Place of Peace
Center for safe exchanges and supervised visitations.
Place of Peace provides a safe environment to conduct supervised visitations and safe exchanges for families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse or conflict during exchanges.
Place of Peace does not prohibit the admission of any client based on race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status.
Referrals come from many places, such as Domestic Relations Court, Juvenile Court, Child Protective Services or attorneys. Self-referred cases are also considered. Before services can begin, both parties must voluntarily contact our center and schedule an orientation. Once the orientation is completed by both parties the services will be scheduled.
Children are dropped off and picked up at predetermined times to assure that parents will have no contact with one another during the exchange of their children. This entails a 15-minute window between drop off and pick up.
This service benefits families who are required to have their visits supervised by an independent party. The visiting parent and child(ren) stay at our safe and secure location while a staff member observes their visitation.
We require the noncustodial parent or the respondent in the civil protection order to pay our nominal fee. The fee is $10 a month for exchanges, $20 an hour for a closely supervised visitation and $10 for an open visitation.
