Family & Community Services Foster Care and Adoption Services
Family & Community Services Foster Care and Adoption Services is a private, non-profit adoption and foster care agency licensed in the states of Ohio and Michigan.
Since 1982, F&CS adoption program has assisted hundreds of families. Along with providing adoption services here in the U.S., F&CS has assisted families with the adoption of children from over 30 different countries.
F&CS provides adoption study and post placement/supervision services to families who hope to adopt a child through another agency. We have networking agreements already in place with several other Hague Accredited agencies and adoption attorneys throughout the United States. If you live in Michigan or Ohio, please contact us to see how we can help! Visit our website for more information.
The pre-adoption process (application, adoption study, immigration approval and dossier preparation) will take most applicants four to six months.
The adoption of a Chinese child will be processed and finalized in China. All families must travel to Guangzhou to apply for their child’s visa following the finalization in the capital city of the province where your child resided. Most families spend 10-14 days in China.
One of our facilitators will assist you in coordinating your needs from travel arrangements, sightseeing and even shopping. Visit travel.state.gov to view current eligibility requirements.
There are three different programs a family is able to utilize when adopting from the Philippines: the regular program, special home finding program and the relative program.
One or both parents must travel (both parents preferred), staying in the Philippines a minimum of 5 to 6 days. Travel is usually possible within a few weeks after issuance of the visa; in most cases you can choose your travel dates. Adoption is finalized in the U.S.
We will provide detailed travel information to you prior to your departure for the Philippines, and we are available to answer your questions at any time. Visit travel.state.gov to view current eligibility requirements.
Our Michigan office assists children and families by providing foster care services to children in need of a safe place to live while their birth families are getting the assistance they need in order to be able to parent effectively and safely.
