WHO WE ARE

Family & Community Services Behavioral Health Programs is committed to excellence in diagnosis, treatment and education. Offering the most advanced behavioral health treatments for adolescents, adults, and seniors, F&CS ensures that individuals and families are put on a path to healing. The agency offers outpatient services at four main sites, three located in Trumbull County and one in Portage County. As a comprehensive service provider, the agency also provides recovery housing for both men and women in Portage County.

Our programs are staffed by psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, licensed therapists and case managers. Our team is dedicated to providing the immediate help an individual might need. Valley Counseling Services

The following programs are offered at 143 Gougler Avenue, Kent, Ohio 44240. Please call 330.677.4124 to make an appointment.

Safer Solutions: A 21 week Batterer’s Intervention Treatment Program for adult males with domestic violence issues. A diagnostic assessment will be completed before attending 21 weeks of group therapy. The agency accepts insurance, Medicaid, Private Pay and Sliding Fee Scale.

Peaceful Solutions: A 21 week Batterer’s Intervention Treatment Program for adult females with domestic violence issues. A diagnostic assessment will be completed before attending 21 weeks of group therapy. The agency accepts insurance, Medicaid, Private Pay and Sliding Fee Scale.

Parenting Towards Solutions: A 10 week Parenting Treatment Program for adults with parenting issues. Clients attend Parenting Basics, and then may attend Parenting Children and/or Parenting Adolescents. The agency accepts insurance, Medicaid, Private Pay and Sliding Fee Scale.

Sex Offender Treatment: Assessment and treatment for those who have been involved in a sexually offending act. An individual Sexual Offender Risk Assessment will be completed as well as individual therapy as determined on a case-by-case basis.

Senior Case Management: The overall goal and vision of this program is to help senior citizens who have been referred for services to stay in their own home by providing intensive case management services. Many times, the clients have had some significant medical issues or life changes that have created a situation where they are struggling to care for themselves.

Intensive Intervention: This program provides case management and therapy services to parents who have been referred by Portage County Job and Family Services and recently lost the custody of their children and are in need of additional support.

Diagnostic Assessment: A diagnostic assessment is necessary to determine an individual’s need for mental health and/or substance abuse treatment. An assessment is completed by a licensed therapist or social worker as part of our initial intake process. Insurance, Medicaid and Private Pay are accepted.

Counseling Services: Our expert staff assists with concerns ranging from mild anxiety and depression to relationship problems, addictions and severe and persistent mental illness. The program is staffed by licensed therapists and social workers.

Medication Management: Medication Management is the use of prescription medication to control symptoms of behavioral health problems. A prescription for medication can be written by our Board Certified Psychiatrist by appointment only. The agency accepts insurance, Medicaid and Private Pay.

Representative Payee Program: F&CS was appointed by the Social Security Administration to receive Social Security and/or SSI benefits for our clients who cannot manage or direct someone else to manage their money. The main responsibilities that F&CS has as a payee are to use benefits to pay for the current and foreseeable needs of the beneficiary and properly save any benefits not needed.

Teen Solutions: A 12 week treatment program for teens engaging in or impacted by peer, family or relationship violence. The agency accepts insurance, Medicaid, Private Pay and Sliding Fee Scale.

Multisystemtic Therapy (MST): MST is a research proven and cost-effective treatment for parents and youth with serious behavioral problems. It is an intensive family and community based treatment program that focuses on all aspects of the offender’s life. MST-Problem Sexual Behavior (PSB) targets chronic and violent juvenile offenders who engage in criminal sexual behavior.

In-Home Behavioral Therapy: Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) is a mental health service designed to meet the needs of youth with serious emotional disturbances who are at risk of out-of-home placement or who are returning home from placement. The goal of IHBT is to provide the necessary mental health services and supports to enable youth to live in their homes in the least restrictive, most normative setting possible. IHBT services are provided in the home, school and community where youth live and function. These services focus on the mental health issues that put the youth at risk, while promoting positive development and health family functioning.

Family Solutions: Time limited, intensive home based services provided to families experiencing a mental health crisis, significant emotional and behavioral disturbances and who are in need of stabilization services with the goal of keeping the family intact.

Fast Track: This program is a partnership with Summit County Children Services for families who are involved in their system at various levels. Services through this program follow an Intensive Home Based Treatment model with the goal of family preservation. The program is provided to families with a variety of presenting problems, from children who have been removed from the home to families who call the agency and need support.

Counseling Services: Our expert staff assists with individual counseling, family counseling and case management to address addiction issues. The program is staffed by licensed therapists and social workers and need for services is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Driver Intervention Program (DIP): A 72 hour residential driver intervention program for those convicted of alcohol or drug related driving offenses. The cost of the program is $350.00.

Think About Your Future: This program is an alternative to conviction for underage consumption. The program consists of an assessment and 2 hours of group education. The cost of the program is $125.00.

Brief Intervention for Cannabis (BIC-60): This program is an alternative to conviction for cannabis related charges. An individual assessment is conducted; 2 hours of group education are required as well a negative drug screen at the completion of the program. The cost of the program is $125.00.

Driver Education Class (DEC-8): A program for individuals ages 18-21 who have been convicted of having a Blood Alcohol County (BAC) of below .08. Participants will receive 8 hours of education. The cost of the program is $100.00.

On Track to Recovery (OTTR): An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for women and men needing addiction treatment. The program also offers 3/4-way housing option for men. Program participants undergo a diagnostic assessment, receive case management services and receive individual counseling and family counseling as needed.

Root House: Root House is a 10-bed, recovery housing facility for men. The program is staffed 24/7 to provide optimal support. Staffing includes a Program Manager and a case manager who provide individual, group and family therapy as well as case management services. While residing at Root House, the men receive sobriety supports, building life skills, employment and housing linkage, and mental health services.

Portage Area Recovery House (PARC): The Portage Area Recovery Campus is a 23-bed, recovery housing facility for women. The program provides a safe, supportive environment for women to strengthen their recovery. F&CS employs 24/7 staffing to ensure support. This includes a Program Manager who conducts individual and group therapy and two case managers. The women at PARC are also offered a variety of treatment and support options including sobriety supports, building life skills, employment and housing linkage, and mental health services.
